Effective RV Dust Suppression can eradicate dust into your caravan now! Dust is a dirty fact of life if you love going Off the Bitumen and up those Dirt Roads, but it doesn’t have to ruin your trip. For starters there are a few facts that are indisputable like; dust in Australia is everywhere off the bitumen and no caravan manufacturer can truthfully claim to have a dust free van, be it a caravan, camper trailer or motorhome, as there so many variables. To understand the issues that lead to dust into your RV you need to look at the source of the dust ingress and this is usually because of manufacturing techniques applied (or not applied) as the case may be. One of the greatest attributes to dust ingress is the use of LP Gas appliances which in turn require free air delivery vents to be added at floor and roof levels. These vents then allow an amount of unobstructed free air flow to meet applicable regulations required by cooking, refrigeration, heating and hot water services. Then there are other dust ingress points through roof vents, entry doors, window weep holes, fridge vents and more. Dust enters if there is a lower pressure inside the caravan to the outside. The low pressure creates a partial vacuum and sucks in the dust through any holes or gaps. Prime suspects for these holes are where electrical cables and plumbing pipes pass through floors and behind the fridge or where the wheel boxes join the floor, around doors and window seals. So How Do You Beat DUST? There are a couple of options like the old Scupper Vent but you must position correctly and then vents like the Dometic Dust Reduction System which require you to be driving a certain speed to give positive pressure. The issue with the Scupper Vent is unlike the Dometic Vent is not filtered so in the wet or in a convoy on dusty roads if you are not the lead vehicle you are simply inviting dust into your van. Setting up a 12 volt fan and filter has some merit but there is couple of issues, like, if the fan is placed into a normal fan vent opening, you now have no ventilation at that original fan point. Also Dust Fans are extremely noisy and power eaters running in most cases up to 6 amps. If you are travelling with a 25 amp DC to DC battery charger powering your Dust Fan and your fridge then this is using most of the available power you are creating when driving. The Mountain Air Solution. Now you can have a Dust Suppression System that will also allow you to use the fan when parked up, this combines the very best aspects of other ”dust reduction systems” and normal roof fans into one unit. Let us explain a little more our fan, it is whisper quite so can be used to circulate air when you stop and drawing up to 2.6 amps it will not break the power bank. Of course the air is filtered to check dust ingress and pressurise the RV interior creating a Dust Free Zone. The Mountain Air Easy Install. Can be installed by a relatively handy man or woman, fits into standard 14” x 14” (360 mm x 360 mm) fan hole. You can replace an existing fan or install into a new hole, whichever suits you particular RV. Order now and enter the Dust Free Zone….
